Kempton Park scouts celebrate major wins at Baden-Powell Parade
The First Kempton Park Scout Group returned with gold and silver awards at the annual East Rand district event.
The 1st Kempton Park Scout Group recently celebrated an exceptional achievement following this year’s BP Parade, an annual event commemorating the birthday of Scouting founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell.
The parade brought together Scout groups from across the East Rand District to celebrate leadership, community service, outdoor skills, and the enduring values of Scouting.
This year proved especially proud for 1st Kempton Park, which returned home with an impressive collection of awards.

The group was awarded Gold as an overall Scout Group, alongside a prestigious Gold Star Pack Award recognising the excellence of its Cub Scout Pack.

The Meerkat programme, which welcomes the youngest members into Scouting, also received a Participation Certificate, highlighting the growing strength of this new branch of the Group.
Adding to the celebrations, the Scout Troop achieved remarkable success with three Silver Patrol Awards and an Overall Silver Award, demonstrating consistent teamwork, commitment, and leadership development among the Scouts.
“These awards reflect the dedication of our young people, the passion of our volunteer leaders, and the incredible support from families and the community,” said Scout Group Leader Nic Hornby.
“Scouting continues to grow in Kempton Park, and we are proud to see our members developing confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills.”
In recent years, the 1st Kempton Park Scout Group has experienced significant growth, welcoming children and youth of all backgrounds eager to learn, explore, and belong to a positive community environment.
The group warmly invites new members to join its programmes:
• Meerkats (ages 5–6)
• Cubs (ages 7–10)
• Scouts (ages 11–18)
