SPCA under quarantine following confirmed parvo case
The SPCA has urged the public to refrain from visiting the facility unless absolutely necessary and to follow updates on official platforms.
The Kempton Park SPCA has confirmed a case of parvovirus in its kennels and has temporarily closed to the public as a precautionary measure.
SPCA manager Javone Lewis said the facility is currently under strict quarantine until further notice to protect the health and safety of all animals in its care.
“Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially fatal virus, particularly affecting puppies.
“Taking swift action is critical to prevent further spread and to safeguard the lives of the animals we care for every day,” said Lewis.

The SPCA has urged the public to refrain from visiting the facility unless absolutely necessary and to follow updates on its official platforms regarding reopening.
Pet owners are also reminded to ensure their animals’ vaccinations are up to date and to avoid high-risk areas where infection may occur.
While adoptions and general visits have been suspended, the SPCA will remain operational for emergencies and animal welfare complaints.
The organisation thanked the community for its understanding and support during this time.
