The campaign aimed to educate community members about their basic human rights while encouraging open discussions around gender-based violence, domestic violence and child abuse.

During the engagement, officers distributed informational pamphlets and provided guidance on recognising and responding to various forms of abuse.

Officers from the EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit conducted a human rights awareness campaign at Winnie Mandela Clinic on March 9.

“Officers shared information on domestic violence and gender-based violence, while also educating community members on the importance of reporting any form of violence or abuse to the relevant authorities,” said EMPD media liaison officer Constable Katlego Mphahlele.

Community members were also informed about the available reporting channels and encouraged to work closely with law enforcement to combat violence and protect vulnerable groups.

The EMPD emphasised the importance of community involvement in addressing social crimes and fostering safer neighbourhoods.
