Fatal crash claims one life on R21 in Kempton Park

The incident was reported at approximately 03:24, shortly before the Voortrekker Road off-ramp in Kempton Park.

A man in his late thirties has died following a single-vehicle crash on the R21 northbound in the early hours of this morning.

According to City of Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesperson Tikkie MacDonald, the incident was reported at approximately 03:24 on April 11, shortly before the Voortrekker Road off-ramp in Kempton Park.

“On arrival, responders found that the driver had lost control of the vehicle and collided with a roadside barrier,” said MacDonald.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was assessed by paramedics on scene and declared dead.

His body was later transported to the Germiston Mortuary by the Gauteng Forensic Pathology Services.

The EMPD attended the scene, and the circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation.

Only one lane was affected while emergency and recovery operations were underway. Traffic remained open.

The City of Ekurhuleni Emergency Services has extended its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

“Motorists are urged to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and remain vigilant, particularly during early morning hours when visibility and road conditions may be compromised.”
