Frustration grows as repeated outages hit Norkem Park

“The ongoing instability of electricity supply is unacceptable. Residents are increasingly frustrated and are demanding urgent answers."

Residents of Norkem Park were once again left without electricity overnight, highlighting a growing pattern of recurring outages in the area.

According to Ward Clr Desmond McKenzie, these disruptions have become a weekly occurrence, placing significant strain on households, businesses, and daily activities.

“The ongoing instability of electricity supply is unacceptable. Residents are increasingly frustrated and are demanding urgent answers and decisive action from the City of Ekurhuleni,” said McKenzie.

He added that the lack of reliable power not only disrupts daily life but also raises serious concerns about infrastructure reliability and service delivery.

“Communities cannot be expected to endure such persistent interruptions without clear communication, accountability, and a concrete plan to resolve the issue,” he said.

McKenzie has called for immediate intervention to restore stability and prevent further hardship for residents.

According to information from the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) and Ward Clr Desmond McKenzie, the outage was caused by infrastructure theft.

Repair work was scheduled to resume at 08:00, with an estimated restoration time of 16:00.

Residents are advised to remain patient while technicians work to restore power.
