Two killed in crash on R21 near airport split
Two people, including a female child, died and five others were injured following a collision involving two vehicles on the R21 southbound near the airport entrance at the R24/N3 split on May 10.
City of Ekurhuleni DEMS has confirmed a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on May 10 at about 11:00 on the R21 southbound, just before the airport entrance at the R24/N3 split.
According to DEMS spokesperson Tikkie MacDonald, emergency crews found that two vehicles carrying a total of seven occupants were involved in the collision.

“Two critically injured patients, an adult female and a male child, were treated on scene before being transported to the hospital,” said MacDonald.
“A further three people sustained moderate injuries and were treated on scene before being transported to various hospitals in the surrounding area.”

MacDonald added that one of the drivers, an adult male, and a female child were sadly declared dead on scene.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
