Pastor launches book encouraging spiritual readiness
Erens Mangalana publishes a new book to take fellow Christians through the importance of doing what's right whilst time still permits, especially church leaders and pastors in general.
Kempton Park Assemblies of God lead pastor Erens Mangalana has written a fictional Christian novel aimed at encouraging believers to reflect on faith, readiness and the reality of the Rapture.
The book, After Rapture: A Story of a Pastor Who Was Left Behind, was published in June 2026 and follows a pastor who unexpectedly misses the Rapture and must navigate deception, fear, and spiritual conflict during the tribulation period.
Mangalana said the inspiration behind the book was to deliver a “wake-up call” to both Christians and non-believers about the importance of accepting Jesus Christ while there is still time.

“The book encourages believers to remain spiritually prepared for the coming of our Lord at all times.
“I chose to present this message through a simple fictional story so that everyone can relate to it, including people who may not know the Bible or regularly attend church,” he said.
Although rooted in biblical themes, Mangalana said the book was written for a broad audience.
He hopes it will encourage Christians to remain faithful and prompt those who have not yet accepted the Gospel to reflect on their spiritual lives.
“It immediately raises an important question: what happens after the Rapture? I chose the title because it captures the seriousness of the subject and encourages readers to think about eternity,” he said.

“Even before opening the book, I hope people are reminded that they should be ready for Christ’s return today rather than assume there will always be another opportunity.”
Mangalana said one of the main challenges in writing the book was balancing biblical accuracy with engaging storytelling.
“As a pastor, I wanted to remain faithful to Scripture, but as an author I also wanted the story to be compelling, relatable and easy for readers from different backgrounds to understand.”
He added that the book’s intention is not to create fear, but to encourage reflection, discussion, and spiritual growth.
“The response has been very encouraging. Many readers said the book challenged them to examine their spiritual lives and renew their commitment to Christ. Some said it helped them understand the urgency of the Gospel in a simple and relatable way.”
Mangalana is already working on future projects, including a second book titled A Solid Foundation, scheduled for release in July 2026. The book will explore stories of South African Christian revival movements and aims to inspire readers to pursue a deeper spiritual life.
He also plans to continue writing Christian fiction, with a long-term vision of expanding his stories into film and television adaptations to reach wider audiences.
