Heritage Run to honour women who lost their lives

The community is invited to a heritage celebration through a run and market day.

Residents are invited to bring their families and friends for a day of fitness, culture and community at an 8km Heritage Run on September 24.

The event will take place at Christoffel Park, at the corner of Christoffel Street and De Wiekus Road, with the race starting at 07:00.

The event will combine fitness with a celebration of South Africa’s diverse cultures.

Those who do not take part in the run can enjoy heritage foods, browse craft stalls, support local businesses and join in the community celebrations.

The Heritage Run will also honour the memory of the late Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo, as well as other women who have been found dead in and around Ekurhuleni, including those who have not yet been identified.

Organisers said the tribute was intended to remember the women who lost their lives and show solidarity with their families and communities.
