What is your opinion of placing a loved one in a hospice?

Vani Sekati said, “I will look after my own loved ones. If I don’t have enough time I can get a professional doctor or nurse to come and visit them at home. They have the expertise and they will provide proper medication.”

Tebogo “Mosotho” Kweli said, “At home patients refuse to take medication and continue to drink alcohol while they are sick, making recovery impossible. The hospice won’t let patients indulge in substance abuse or refuse to take medication. Hospices play a big role in the health industry and we need them.”

Msebenzi Mashinini said, “I won’t say a hospice is a bad thing. If I love a person I won’t have all the time in the world to care for them when they are sick. At the hospice they can give them attention and the necessary medication.”

Gift Ndlovu said, “I would never take anyone I love to the hospice. Taking them there is like getting rid of them. I must take care of them until God answers.”

Lebo Sephuma said, “I would take a loved one to a hospice because they will need special care due to their critical condition. There they will get regular treatment which I can’t always be able to give. I could be having other commitments like a job and there they will get full-time attention.”
