Park will eventually be fenced

In the meantime the metro police department has been requested to assist in keeping the park free from criminal incidents

MICHEAL writes via looklocal:

Numerous letters have been written about vehicles on Rose Park in Gladiator Street.

Vehicles are still able to enter the park. This leads to all kinds of criminal activities, including littering and a general unsightly view.

This park is not a taxi rank and yet taxis pour into the place daily. Here and there a few private vehicles also participate in this, with the owners of the vehicles either sleeping for a few hours or playing loud music.

The odd will have their lunch and dump their trash out the window. Even one or two businesses think the park is a place for them to park vehicles. You see their drivers with their red jackets daily.

If your premises aren’t big enough, move your business, but don’t ruin our place of residence. When is the metro going to do something about this, or will they simply make a few excuses again and send the police around a few times?

Then, when the police don’t come around anymore, it will happen all over again. We are sick and tired of complaining about this, but will continue to do so until our metro wakes up and decides to do something long term about this irritation.

The metro replies:

We are aware of the problems at Rose Park.

The fencing of the park will be placed on the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) for permanent access control.

In the meantime, our metro police department has been requested to assist in keeping the park free from criminal incidents as well removing the taxis.

The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.
