KOERIE BRITZ, a community chaplain on the East Rand, writes:
A Community Service Chaplain is voluntary-based and I am involved in supporting trauma victims until such time as a family member or friend arrives on the scene to assist and take over.
I assist with murders, suicides, hijacking, accidents, robberies, drowning, death notifications, sexual assault, fires, drug-related incidents, domestic violence, shooting-related incidents and debriefing.
I have identified several areas where sponsorship can mean a great deal in making a difference in someone’s life, having to cope with severe trauma and where my services are needed.
To enable me to continue doing my work and perform my duties to the best of my ability, see below a list where much needed assistance from you, the public or businesses is required, affording you the opportunity of saving lives: medical bag, toys for children on scenes, non-perishable food for the needy, blankets, clothing for children and adults, petrol, toll gate fees, airtime, maintenance for vehicle.
