CONCERNED COMMUNITY MEMBERS write:
On the eve of July 17, a friend and I were driving around when we witnessed the most brutal dog attack at 9.15pm.
Two vicious dogs attacked a smaller dog on Blyderivier Street in Norkem Park. In an effort to separate the dogs, we threw the attacking dogs with bricks, tried bumping them off with our vehicle and hooted and shouted but these animals wouldn’t let go of the poor dog.
We eventually had to phone the SPCA and the police. When the SPCA arrived, the attack was over and the attacked dog was lying next to our vehicle, barely alive and bleeding with its neck ripped open and intestines hanging out.

We managed to see where the attacking dogs lived and went with the SPCA to confront the owner but the said owner couldn’t have cared less. The woman said that when she arrived home, the dogs ran out of the gate and she could not be bothered to go find her dogs and bring them back home. So she just let her evil dogs roam the streets and attack other people’s animals.
This matter continues to concern us because what would have happened if the dogs had attacked children playing with their skateboard or whatever in the street? These owners don’t care about their dogs or about what their dogs do outside in the street. The manner in which their dogs were attacking was not normal. The dogs would just stare at us with bloody faces and continue mauling the poor dog.
We would just like to let the community know about this incident and that it could have been a child or an adult those animals attacked. Something needs to be done to remove the savage dogs. We would also like to warn the community to be cautious in that area and to remain aware of any dogs roaming the street.
My friend and I are young, strong guys but what we saw broke us. It is a scene that we will never forget because those dogs were ruthless savages and they will attack again and the worst part is that the owner doesn’t care that the dogs are walking around looking for their next victim.
