Drunk driver slams into car at Bredell garage

The man made two children in the front seat hold his beer bottle.

TRISTAN GOVENDER writes:

On Saturday, February 11 at 6.30pm, we were coming back from my daughter’s birthday party.

I stopped at a garage in Bredell so my dad could fill up with fuel. My wife got out of the car and went to the back to get water from the boot.

As I was also exiting the car, I saw a car driving fast towards the back of my car. The next thing I knew my car moved forward.

I got out and saw my wife, Shantal Govender, on the ground with both her legs bruised. The driver was under the influence and had two children in the front seat of his car with no seatbelts.

He made them hold his beer bottle. Paramedics took my wife away as she could not walk.

She is now on crutches, as her knee is hurt. I injured my right shoulder and back.

The police took the drunk driver away and towed his car away as well.
