Very lucky and thankful pensioner writes:
ON March 11 I visited the KFC outlet in Van Riebeeck Park. I placed my order at the drive-through facility and proceeded forward to pay and give the cash to the attendant.
I picked up the order and went home.
A while later, after finishing the meal and doing a few chores, I took the cash slip from my purse and realised I had far too few notes left. This was when I realised I had mistakenly handed over the wrong note – R200 instead of another R20 – which would have been enough.
As I am a pensioner and also struggle to make ends meet every month, and depend on my SASSA grant, R180 is a lot of money to lose.
I went back to KFC and explained my situation to the attendant (Ntombifuthi). She took the cash slip to her manager. Coming back to the window, great was my surprise when I was handed the rest of my money.
She had cashed up before my return and must have noticed there was a surplus.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank her and management for their honesty and calm way of handling the situation. May God bless them and may their branch go from strength to strength.
