Letter: Motorist fed up with buses on CR Swart Drive

"We have also noticed that these buses are dropping off people at the intersection of Kelvin Road and CR Swart Drive."

Editor – On my way to the airport recently, I drove behind a friend on CR Swart Drive.

Just before the entrance to the municipal building on CR Swart Drive, traffic suddenly came to a halt.

The traffic light was flashing red, but that was not the issue.

In the left lane were three buses, two from Harambee and one Gautrain bus.

The Harambee bus in the front stopped dead to offload people in a no offload zone and the other two buses had to turn into oncoming traffic to proceed.

That was the cause of the traffic jam.

When I spoke to my friend later at the airport, he told me the bus driver told him after confronting him that he was drunk.

This was just after 08:10.

We have also noticed that these buses are dropping off people at the intersection of Kelvin Road and CR Swart Drive.

My question is; is this bus service going to be a mere glorified taxi service?

There is no provision for the buses to stop and drop off people as far as I can see on CR Swart Road.

How on earth can this lawlessness continue?

Are we now dealing with some in the CoE who cannot maintain law and order but graciously abide by their own laws?

We also noticed an accident on CR Swart Road on March 11, where somebody slammed into the back of a taxi that stopped to offload passengers opposite the garage near Flame.

Once again, this is a ‘no offload zone’, yet it is allowed.

Does a metro police exist in Kempton Park?
