Premier XI still at top
Kempton chased down the target in 12 overs to earn a bonus point
KEMPTON Park Cricket Club’s premier XI team maintained its lead when they beat Actonville away in a top tier encounter at the weekend.
Skipper Johan Fourie won the toss and elected to bowl on a damp and sticky wicket.
It immediately paid off as Kempton skittled Actonville for 68 inside 20 overs. Star performers with the ball were skipper Fourie (5/24), Kyle Marshall (2/19) and off spinner Nico de Klerk (3/17).
Kempton chased down the target in 12 overs to earn a bonus point. Kempton maintain a 6-point lead over Benoni.
The promotion side played at home against Springs and were sent in to bat on a fresh morning. Kempton managed to put up 271/9 in their 50 overs.
Lee Coetzee scored his maiden hundred for the the club, scoring 103*. Brett Luck chipped in with 45 up front to set the wheels in motion.
Kempton ended up bowling Springs out for 101 in 29 overs.
The pick of the bowlers was Josef Wilken (5/17 in 20 overs).
The Saturday first A side romped to an emphatic 108-run victory over Springs Old Boys. Kempton batted first and smashed a formidable 299/6 in their allotted 35 overs.
Kyle Marshall smashed the ball to all parts of the ground on his way to 91 from 52 balls and Clayton Ceronio, in typical aggressive fashion, smashed nine sixes in an innings of 83 from 48 balls. Kempton managed to restrict Springs Old Boys to 191 all out.
The renegades made light work of Boksburg in a fairly one sided encounter. The renegades ripped through the Boksburg batting line up, bowling them out for 80 runs, which they managed to knock off within 10 overs.
This Saturday sees the return of the local derby between the table topping A side and second placed renegades. It promises to be a mouthwatering encounter with a mix of youth and experience on show at Barnard Stadium.
Juniors
The U/8A side was asked to bowl in a home match against Benoni Northerns on Friday night. Benoni scored 138/7. Kempton never got the runs flowing and only managed 70/6.
Bowlers who each got a wicket were Ian van Rhyn (1/8), Ian Jonker (1/17), Joshua Shanker (1/15), Reuben Jordaan (1/5), Jarrod Kyle (1/3) and Divan de Vries (1/7).
The U/8B1 team faced the U/8B2 team at Barnard on Saturday. B1 batted first and posted 90/3. Jacques Naude was the top B2 bowler with 2/9.
B2 managed to score 94/7 with three balls to spare. The top batsmen for B2 were Jacques Naude (19*, man of the match) and Jean Groenewald (17*).
Outstanding batsmen for B2 were Joshua James (23*) and Christiaan Kloppers (16).
B2 bowlers who took wickets were Dino Binks (1/5), Eric Southey (3/2), Kyle Stevens (1/2), Kaeden Naidu (1/5) and Christiaan Kloppers (1/3).
The U/10 super league team beat Duduza by 195 runs. Kempton batted first and amassed 242/4 with Devon Joyce scoring 103* off 63 balls.
Shaun Heuer (25(, Daniel Wilken (22) and Jared Sandler (20*) all contributed. Duduza was dismissed for 47 with the chief destroyer being Phillip Schoeman, taking 4/6.
The U/10As beat Boksburg by 12 runs. Kempton looked rusty but managed to hold Boksburg off in the end.
At one stage Boksburg needed 40 runs from 30 balls. Some excellent death bowling from Liam le Grange, Sarel Erasmus and Janu Van Zyl saved the day. Sias Badenhorst was the top scoring batsman and man of the match with a solid 33 runs.
