Piketh tops her section at world championships
The world's top 24 men and women are competing, each in two sections of 12
Kempton Park’s Colleen Piketh vaulted to top her 12-nation section with a stunning victory over triple world champion Karen Murphy of Australia on Thursday in the fifth round of the World Indoor Bowls Championships (sets format) for 24 nations being played In Australia.
Piketh, making her debut in the classy event, beat Murphy 10-0, 8-6, then consolidated with a hard-fought victory over the Macao representative, 8-10, 12-5, 7-0 (tie-breaker).

Kempton Park’s Colleen Piketh lost a tie-break teaser 0-15, 15-3, 2-3 to Malta before bouncing back with an 11-9, 11-5 victory over the USA.
Piketh stands joint first, with plenty of bowls to come.

In round one Piketh, a teacher at Norkem Park Primary School, defeated the representative from Brunei 10-2 and 13-0. She then beat the fancied Scotland player 7-4, 4-8, 4-0 (tie-break) to stand on four points and in joint first place in her section.
