THE boys of Kempton Park Rugby Club (Wolwe) did a great job sorting out teams from Eldorado Park on Friday evening, winning all three matches.
The first team pack with Ryno Greyling leading, playing his second game among the loose forwards, provided front foot ball from almost every breakdown point, securing a 48-5 win.
The forward pack has settled in and new blood Ashley Fitzpatrick synchronises well with the team, giving Chrissie Kasselman, AndrĂ© Smith and Zack a platform to test the backs’ game plan.
Points were scored by Jaco Kritzinger, Jaco van Niekerk, Chris Kasselman, Wesley Landman, Ryno Greyling, Ashley Fitzpatrick and Rick Myburgh.
The second team did well to produce an excellent 23-0 win, making up for last weekend’s loss.
The defence was tested to the maximum. Tries were scored by Eugene Hauptfleisch, Neville Fraser, Nico Stokes and Henry van Noordwyk.
The U/21s, although winning 12-0, have still not settled and there was too much individual play, over eagerness and wrong options at times. Tries were scored by Gert Roets and Raylond Kusel.
The chairman of the club, AndrĂ© Hartley, said: “Kempton Rugby Club always produces a great 21 pack, as we have this year. They will, however, need to get back to the basics and put some hard work in. They need to gel as a pack quickly before the season starts.”
“Our Hall of Fame, recognising the club’s 71th year, is almost complete. Any of the old players who would like to donate photographs or memorabilia, can call Angie, the club administrator, on 061-414-8504.
