Have fun at run, braai

A festive atmosphere is once again expected, with well-known artists rocking the crowd

Gauteng road running enthusiasts, families and fitness conscious people are encouraged to attend the SA Pork Kwai Challenge on May 11 at Randburg Sports Complex.

The day promises to be a fun, social event organised by Randburg Harriers and will cater for all fitness levels with a 5km family fun walk, as well as a 10km and 21,1km race. There is even a 50m nappy dash for the under fours.

All moms that take part, no matter the distance, will get a Mother’s Day goodie bag after the race to let them know how special they are.

A festive atmosphere is once again expected, with well-known artists rocking the crowd. This year there will also be live Kwaito music.

The road running and walking events will be followed by an inter club braai competition sponsored by Eskort, who will issue braai packs, cooler bags and a gas braai to participating running clubs to test their culinary skills.

They will be judged by a team of celebrity judges, including 7de Laan actors Anelisa Phewa (Sifiso), Corne Crous (Kim), Heino Schmitt (Altus) and Hildegardt Whites (Bonita), as well as Bongi (SA Idols finalist) and a professional chef. Road running legends Nick Bester and Bruce Fordyce and Marieta Human, for SA Pork, will also be judges.

There is no entry fee to enter the braai competition and clubs get to keep their cooler bags and gas braai equipment for future club functions. There are great prizes up for grabs, which include pork braai cuts to the value of R2 000 for club members to enjoy.

The 10km and 21,1km races will start at 7am and the 5km fun walk 15 minutes later. The nappy dash will start at 10am. There are cash prizes up for grabs and various spot prizes to be given out at the prize-giving.
