Local team secures promotion

The team is currently in first spot on the District Super League log.

Birch Acres FC U/15 was recently promoted to play in the District Super League games.

The team is currently in first spot on the District Super League log.

The Birch Acres-based team has a number of players who come from Tembisa.

According to the team’s coach, Mr Sam Maluleka, the team practices every day at the Birch Acres FC Sports Grounds.

“The players’ parents, schoolmates and friends, are always at a disadvantage to watch the youngsters play. They either have to travel to Birch Acres for home games or travel with the team to away games. This has been a challenge to many fans, relatives, friends and supporters, who sometimes cannot afford to travel with the team,” said Mr Maluleka.

He said some of his players have been selected to represent the Eastern Local Football Association at a district tournament.

“Some of the players will be also representing Easterns during Kwazulu-Natal and Cape Town tournaments,” he said.

Birch Acres FC will lock horns with Old Parks FC in a match to be held at the Mehlareng Stadium.

The game will kick off on August 2.

Supporters are urged to come and support their home team.
