White Birds win 4-1

White Birds FC was crowned the champions of the Motshana Soccer Tournament on Saturday last week.

White Birds FC U/17 defeated Motshana FC U/17 in the final of the Motshana Soccer Tournament played at the Mehlareng Stadium.

They were rewarded with soccer kit, gold medals and a trophy.

The tournament, which kicked off during the school holidays, came to an end at the Mehlareng Stadium in Tembisa when the White Birds walloped Motshana 4-1 in the final.

After an interesting tournament, White Birds proved to be the cream of the soccer crop, taking the cup with a well-deserved victory.

From the first whistle, White Birds players were determined to win the finals when Tumelo Matshapa opened the scoring.

A second goal for White Birds was scored through the efforts of the reliable midfielder, Lebo Lakalaka.

The score was 2-0 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, Motshana FC’s defender, Elias Tselani, scored an only goal for his team from a penalty.

Against the run of play, White Birds’ Lekalakala scored a brace, sealing victory for his team.

When the final whistle blew, the score was still 4-1, in favour of White Birds.

White Birds FC’s coach, Mr Emmanuel Moyane, said he was over the moon with how his players proved themselves on the field.

“They made me proud,” he said.
