Model aircraft show to take place

Aircrafts such as war planes and modern jets will be on display at the annual Heinie Warbird Day.

MODEL aircraft enthusiasts are expected to flock to the annual Heinie Warbird Day on Sunday, September 13, at the Barnstormers Model Flying Club, 1km off Bapsfontein Road.

The show, now in its eighth year, will start at 10:30am till 4pm.

A model aircraft is a small unmanned aircraft or, in the case of a scale model, a replica of an existing or imaginary aircraft.

Flying models range from simple toy gliders made of cardstock or foam polystyrene to powered scale models made from materials such as balsa wood, bamboo, plastic, styrofoam, carbon fiber or fibreglass and are skinned with tissue paper or a thin polyester film.

The event organiser, Heinrich Keyser, said show-goers can look forward to seeing a variety of aircrafts including war planes and modern jets.

A R20 entrance fee per car will be levied. Refreshments, secure parking, seating and ablution facilities will be available.
