Karatekas return from Japan
Mduduzi "Master Blaster" Mahlangu and Senpai Jabulani "Legs of Fury" Mbuyane were excited to return home and share their lessons with fellow karate students.
Two Tembisa karatekas who left for Japan as part of the South African Shinkyokushinkai Karate Organisation’s team to the World Tournament are back home.
The two touched down on November 3.
Mduduzi “Master Blaster” Mahlangu and Senpai Jabulani “Legs of Fury” Mbuyane were excited to return home and share their lessons with fellow karate students.
The two young sportsmen have competed in different tournaments locally and they have proved themselves, which qualified them to represent the country.
“It was exciting to represent South Africa; going to Japan for the very first time – it encourages us to continue with what we are doing,” said Jabulane Mbuyane.
“It feels so good to represent my country. It has always been my wish to do something like this. I carried the whole of Tembisa with me. Let’s show people in the township that we are not suppressed, but that we are highly motivated,” said Mahlangu.
They said they encountered challenges with communication, but they commended Japan on its welcoming citizens and cuisine.
Both were impressed with the order, even in people walking the streets, and were thrilled to meet some of their role models.
