Siblings take top honours at bowling club
The 2016 season will kick off in February
ATLAS Bowling Club’s 47th annual prize-giving saw an unusual result for the club championships in all the major bowls categories.
Owen James and his sister Nola Henry combined in all the competitions and walked away with the majority of top awards, with Nola’s daughter, Natalie Moffat, also combined to take a few more honours.
James took the Victor Ludorum, men’s singles and handicap singles trophies while Henry took the Victrix Ludorum and women’s singles titles.
As a combined sibling team they went on to win the drawn pairs and nominated pairs, as well as the nominated trips with Johan van Wyk and the nominated fours with the inclusion of Natalie Moffat.
The National Association Blind Bowlers (Ekurhuleni Region), who also held its competitions at Atlas Bowling Club, their home club, recorded the following results:
Blind/sighted pairs was won by Natalie Moffat (directed by Nola Henry). Natalie’s sighted partner was Ziggy Dickson.
The other category winners were:
Colin Jones (men’s senior singles), Denise Trow (women’s senior singles), Carl Fauendorf (men’s novices) and Mandy Hinstridge (women’s novices).
The 2016 season will kick off in February.
