Tembisa Tsogang Basadi FC kept their title hopes alive when they thrashed Bloemfontein Golden Gogos FC 9-0, in a tournament played at the Bloemfontein Students Ground recently.
The locals started the game well, forcing their opponents to play with their backs against the wall.
It came as no surprise when Tsogang Basadi’s reliable striker, Sphiwe “Bricks” Mondlane, scored a brace 11 minutes into the game.
Busisiwe “Ace” Selaloke scored a third goal after he received a well-timed pass from Queen Motlatla. Golden Gogos’ attempts at goals were fruitless.
Against the run of play, Mondlane increased her team’s lead with a fourth goal.
A few minutes later, Anastasia Tuane scored a fifth goal, sealing the lead in the first half.
The first half ended with Tsogang Basadi leading 5-0.
In the second half, Tsogang Basadi scored a hat-trick through striker Mondlane. Selaloke scored another goal for her team in the dying minutes of game.
The game ended with a devastating 9-0 score.
Tembisa Tsogang Basadi FC’s coach, Kenneth Sithagu, said he was extremely excited about how his players represented the team in Bloemfontein.
“I enjoyed watching my players teaching Golden Gogos football lessons at their ground. It was the best soccer match ever. Our fans missed a lot. We give all thanks to the sponsors that made it possible for us to go and play in the Bloemfontein tournament,” said Mr Sithagu.
