Nominations for sports awards close soon

The prestigious award ceremony will take place on Friday, March 18 at Kempton Park Civic Centre

THE closing date for nominations for the 2016 annual Ekurhuleni Sports Awards is January 29, following a year-long nomination process.

The nominations were opened in January 2015.

Individuals, clubs or associations are invited to submit their nominations for different categories before the deadline.

The prestigious award ceremony will take place on Friday, March 18 at Kempton Park Civic Centre from 6pm to 10pm.

The categories for the 2016 Ekurhuleni Sports Awards are:

Sportsman of the Year

Coach of the Year

Sportsman of the Year with Disability

Junior Sportsman of the Year

Outstanding Sport Administrator

Sport Federation of the Year

Merit Primary Sport School of the Year

Developing Primary Sport School of the Year

School Sport Technical Official of the Year

Sportswoman of the Year

Outstanding Sport Official

Sportswoman of the Year with Disability

Junior Sportswoman of the Year

Team of the Year

Merit Secondary Sport School of the Year

Developing Secondary Sport School of the Year

School Sport Coach of the year

Nominees must at least have obtained national colours or coached/officiated at national level in order to be considered for awards such as Sportsman of the Year, Junior Sportsman of the Year, Junior Sportswoman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, Sportsman of the Year with Disability, Sportswoman of the Year with Disability, outstanding sports official and outstanding sports administrator.

Nomination forms are available at the sports and recreation northern regional offices on Plane Road in Spartan.
