Combination suffers 2-0 defeat
The tournament was a tough one for some of the teams and only the best prevailed.
Sunday’s Top 4 Tournament at the Kanana Sports Grounds saw four local teams competing against one another.
The tournament was a tough one for some of the teams and only the best prevailed.
Coach of Intermillan, Frans Tsibi, said it was a good tournament and the Combination soccer team was stronger than Intermillan.
“In terms of knocking the ball, we were quick and we could easily penetrate Combination’s defence.
“They would take our the ball when our players went 50/50 with their players,” said Tsibi.
Intermillan scored in the first 45 minutes of the final match, when Eric Makasela’s shot reached the back of the net.
The first half ended with Intermillan leading 1-0.
In the second half, Tsepiso Zikalala secured a second goal for Intermillan when he scored from a free kick awarded to the team.
“There was no substitute in the entire 90 minutes. I played the first group in the first match and this group played the final. I wanted to maintain their standard.
“This is in preparation for the Easter games,” said Tsibi.
Another Intermillan official, Samuel Mokhaneli, said Combination’s mid-field players were not intact.
“The only way for them to beat us was to beef up their mid-field. They could not get to our box. They couldn’t connect passes and they were unable to maintain possession for very long,” he said.
The final score was 2-0 in favour of Intermillan.
