Tigers roar to victory
Fifteen minutes after the first goal, Moletji Tigers scored an equalising goal through the efforts of Patrick "Abataki" Matlala.
Moletji Tigers beat Cally’s FC 4-1 in a Top 8 Tournament played on January 6 at the Phomolong Sports Grounds.
The tournament kicked off on Saturday and it proved to be the most difficult match, according to coaches of the teams featuring in the finals.
Moletji Tigers’ assistant coach, Noko Khwinana, said their opponent scored in the first half.
The goal from Kabelo Maringa put Cally’s FC in the lead.
Fifteen minutes after the first goal, Moletji Tigers scored an equalising goal through the efforts of Patrick “Abataki” Matlala.
Three minutes after equalising, Abataki’s cousin, Lebo “Colly” Matlala, secured a second goal for Moletji Tigers.
Moletji Tigers made some changes in the second half when Mongwadi Kobe made way for Tebogo “Changer” Monaha.
Five minutes after the first substitute, Moletji Tigers’ coach made another change by replacing Emiel “Spandiell” Matlou with Freeman “Rooney” Mokoatedi.
Two minutes later, Rooney created a third goal, which was sealed through Lebo “Colly” Matlala.
Abataki scored the fourth goal for Moletji Tigers.
“This was our first game after the December holidays and our players needed thorough training. In the first 20 minutes, they were too relaxed and started playing thereafter, pushing forward more,” said Khwinana.
Cally’s FC’s coach Ronie Modise said he was not happy with the referee but he is happy with his team’s performance.
“We worked hard, hence we reached the finals. In the next game we must work harder and secure a win,” said Modise.
