Shuttles slammed at John Barrable Hall
The association runs development sessions at the hall on Friday afternoons
The Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association (EGBA) hosted the Gauteng U/15 Regional Tournament for young shuttlers at the John Barrable Hall from Friday, February 19 to Saturday, February 20.
The tournament saw young badminton players competing in the mixed doubles section on Friday night and doubles and singles on Saturday.
According to EGBA president Barnie Liebenberg, the sport has stagnated slightly in terms of the number of players who are taking up badminton. However, the association is working hard at developing players and promoting the game, particularly at schools in previously disadvantaged areas.
The association runs development sessions at the hall on Friday afternoons to try and promote the sport by supplying racquets, shuttles, nets and the courts to the children from these schools in order to generate an interest among these youngsters.
