MLS goes down 3-2
Both teams showed a lot of confidence from the first blow of the whistle.
It was a good day for the New Generations FC players, when they walked away victorious after winning 3-2 on Sunday.
They took on MLS FC during a Tembisa United Football Association (TUFA) VW league match, which was played at the Bokamoso Sports Grounds.
Both teams showed a lot of confidence from the first blow of the whistle.
New Generations FC players wasted no time and were the first to score through the efforts of their striker Nkululeko Hlongo, seven minutes into the game.
MLS struck back with an equaliser in the 25th minute with a stunning goal from the striker, Chiko.
Against the run of play, New Generations players fought to increase their score and made sure there were no gaps in their defence.
They scored a second goal through Themba Sindane from long-range.
In the dying minutes of the first half, Chiko of MLS scored a second goal, bringing the score to 2-2 at the end of the first half.
The second half of the game gained new tempo as MLS came in with more fighting spirit and the players fired more shots at goal.
Players from New Generations, however, did not make this a smooth ride for their opposition, as they trapped and blocked several attempts by their opponents.
As the match drew closer to the end of the second half, Hlongo managed to dribble the ball past the opposition goalkeeper and scored in the 89th minute.
New Generations FC coach, Robert Sithagu, said he was excited with the win, although the TUFA VW league is tough.
“I am impressed with the performance of my players. They did very well on the field. We need to practise harder so that we can defeat the team in our next encounter,” said Mr Sithagu.
