Agabe Christ loses 2-1

Kingdom Faith Worship's players opened the scoring through the efforts of their reliable striker, Donny Khanyile.

Local church soccer teams faced each other at the Maokeng Extension Sports Grounds.

The teams were supported by their church members, who waited to see who would win between Agabe Christ Centre FC and Kingdom Faith Worship Centre FC.

It was Kingdom Faith Worship FC’s players who emerged victorious in the friendly match played on March 20.

Kingdom Faith Worship’s players opened the scoring through the efforts of their reliable striker, Donny Khanyile.

He scored within the first 10 minutes of the game.

This did not deter Agabe Christ Centre’s players, who pressed forward relentlessly and enjoyed some good possession of the ball.

It was through the efforts of Nakampe Lebepe that the team was able to get onto the scoreboard. Unfortunately, it would be the only goal the team would score during the match.

When the whistle blew, signalling the end of the first half, the score was still deadlocked on 1-1.

The second half began with both teams coming out well-organised

Kindom Faith Worship’s players clearly were not satisfied with a possible draw and fought hard to regain the lead.

Once again it was the skill of Khanyile, who received a well-timed pass from Manqoba Nkabinde, that allowed him to score and take his team into the lead again.

When the final whistle blew the score was still 2-1 in favour of Kingdom Faith Worship.

Kingdom Faith Worship Centre FC’s coach, Mr Themba Madlala, said his players played well, especially they have not been able to train lately.

“I am impressed with how my team challenged their opponents. It was indeed a good match. My players displayed good team spirit, although they were lacking a bit in defending. Luckily we had the best goalkeeper,” said Mr Madlala.
