Join these runs on Mother’s Day

Organised by Randburg Harriers Running Club, this year’s race is expected to draw in excess more than of 4 000 runners.

ONLINE entries are rolling in for the Adrienne Hersch Challenge which will take place this Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8.

Organised by Randburg Harriers Running Club and in its 33rd year, this year’s race is expected to draw more than of 4 000 runners partaking in the 21km or 10km runs or 5km fun run.

PinkDrive is the charity of choice of this event and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the fight against breast cancer. With the exciting new route for the 21km and 10km races, the Adrienne Hersch Challenge offers something for every runner. For the Two Oceans runner, the 21km provides a nice recovery run and an opportunity to stretch those legs after a decent break.

For the Comrades entrant, the 10km offers one last opportunity to get in a quality shorter run before the Comrades Marathon.

This event is not just for hardcore athletes. The 5km fun run will offer a great day out for the whole family, including your dogs, with the start/finish offering a selection of entertainment, great food, good beer and other beverages, as well as various other vendors.

As the 5km is a fun run, no licence is needed.

Entertainment for the kiddies will keep the little ones immersed while other runners can explore the Randburg Harriers avenues and lanes. Also to be noted is the exciting nappy dash at 10am. This is a fun-filled kiddie run for those budding athletes under four years of age (mom and dad can help out too).

There will be medals and backpacks for the first 100 participating in the nappy dash.

Cost of entry ranges from R40 for the 5km fun run to R140 for the 21km. Online entries can be booked at www.entrytime.com. Pre-entries and online entry collection will be available at the venue from May 6-8 between 11am and 4pm (cash only). Late entries will be registered on the day between 5am and 7am.
