Wrestlers will be unleashed in city on June 18

A Kempton park wrestler and ex-Hoërskool Birchleigh learner, Hector Payne, is challenging Brakpan wrestler, The Jackal, for the first-ever SAPW hardcore championship that will be launched at Unleashed.

Unleashed, an event to be staged by South African Pro Wrestling (SAPW) will take place at Hoërskool Birchleigh on June 18.

The Jackal earned his contendership for the championship by beating Payne at the Impala Rally in February.

Since then Payne has been on a losing streak and The Jackal has issued a challenge for him to meet an unnamed opponent on May 29 at East Rand Traders Square. Should Payne win, he can face The Jackal at Unleashed.

Unleashed will feature five matches with the hardcore title fight as the main event. Wrestlers such as Griffin, Harliquin, Zizzou Middoux and Black Ice will be in the ring.

The SAPW training centre is based in Brakpan. On June 18 they will host a try-out event for anyone wishing to join. The best performer on the day will win a six-month training contract at SAPW. The cost is R50 and includes a free ticket to Unleashed later in the day.

The gates to Unleashed will open at 4pm and the event will start at 5.30pm.

Tickets cost R30 for ringside seats and R20 normal seats. Children under six enter free.
