Paddlers warm up for longer river races

Beginners and novices also gained the experience

GAUTENG paddlers recently had another opportunity to train for the longer A grade races coming up, at Florida Lake Canoe Club’s race on Klip River.

The race started in Meyerton and went to Three Rivers where Klip River runs into the Vaal River.

Beginners and novices also gained the experience required to do those races, as well as to do the qualifying races required for A grade river status.

The first A grade river race will take place in October in Cradock on the Fish River, covering a distance of 80km over two days.

Norman Andrews partnered with Keith Beeston from Kempton Park to finish the 23km race in 1 hour 49 minutes as 15th K2 (double) boat, out of some 70 boats that finished. They were fourth in the masters section.
