The competition will honour the heroes and heroines of June 16, 1976.
The Tembisa Golf Club’s organising secretary, Mr Benjamin Monyanyedi, said the club recognises they are a part of a broader South African society and it is therefore important to remind themselves at all times that days like June 16 are important milestones in the history of their country.
“We will also use the event to remind ourselves and our members to participate in the upcoming local elections as history has shown us that we become more affected whenever regimes change hands,” said r Monyanyedi.
Meanwhile their sponsor, Mr Masisela who is also a golfer, said his intentions are to see young people reaching better heights through sport.
“This event will take children off the street. My intention is to see young people participating positively in golfing and growing the communities,” added Mr Masisiela.
Prizes will be on offer and the entrance fee is R15.
