Tail winds make for a fast race from Bloemfontein
This coming weekend Gauteng Pigeon Union (GPU) will be liberating the birds from Rietrivier
RIVERPARK Pigeon Club’s Bloemfontein races 3 and 4 at the weekend was another blow home due to the southwesterly winds.
Two to three birds arrived at the lofts and clocking within seconds of each other, which moved a lot of fanciers down on the top 30 result sheets, even with their good times.
The young bird positions were filled in eight minutes 35 seconds (about one bird every 16 seconds) and the old bird positions were filled in four minutes eight seconds (about one bird every eight seconds).
There were only seven members out of 15 listed in the points for the young birds and 10 out of 16 for the old birds. On the result sheets Doves Nest Guest House scored on eight positions and Tallies Loft on five with the young birds. Albert Neilson scored on six positions with Pieter van den Broeck, Tallies Lofts and Reinhold Brichta scoring on four positions each respectively with the old birds.
The nett flying time for the young birds was 3:52 and 3:50.06 for the old birds.
The young bird winner was Hilton Pitout (also 11th and 27th) with a winning margin of 34 seconds, with Pieter van den Broeck in second place (also 21st and 25th).
The old bird winner was Pine Pienaar (also 16th, and 26th) with a 22-second margin from Reinhold Brichta (also 15th, 21st and 29th).
The rest of the results were:
Young birds: Doves Nest Guest House 3rd, 4th, 12th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 24th and 30th; Albert Neilson 5th and 23rd; G & E Lofts 6th and 19th; Pine Pienaar 7th; Sky Lofts 8th, 18th and 20th; Tallies Loft 9th, 10th 13th, 14th and 22nd; Flip van Staden 26th and 29th; Holtzhausen Hokke 28th.
Old birds: Pieter van den Broeck 3rd, 4th, 5th and 20th; Doves Nest Guest House 6th, 23rd and 28th; Tallies Lofts 7th, 14th, 17th and 27th; Hilton Pitout 8th; Albert Neilson 9th, 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th and 24th; Nollie de Villiers 10th and 22nd; Knoesen Lofts 13th; Connie Coertse 25th and 30th.
This coming weekend Gauteng Pigeon Union (GPU) will be liberating the birds from Rietrivier and this will not be a combined liberation with the other seven organisations. The weather prediction at this stage is indicating a steady race with lots of easterly winds.
