New Crossfit league to kick off soon
The movements are aimed at improving overall health and fitness.
A Crossfit league for East Rand Crossfit members, the first of its kind in South Africa, has been established and will kick off on September 14 at 7pm.
Crossfit is a fitness programme which can be defined as constantly varied, functional movements performed at a high Intensity.
The goal of Crossfit is to eliminate routine and continue to change and vary workouts to ensure one has an all round approach to fitness, Matthew Tarr of the Kempton Crossfit box said.

“The movements are aimed at improving overall health and fitness in order to ensure one is able to get the most out of life. The intensity of the workouts makes it challenging and gives people the opportunity to push each day and to realise what they are capable of.
“Crossfit is an exercise regime aimed at any individual that is looking to better themselves whether it be for sport, for fitness or for healthy living,” Tarr added.
There have been many Crossfit competitions but never a provincial type “league”. The new Hardihood Box League is aimed at all registered members of the various Crossfit boxes on the East Rand where Crossfitters will have the opportunity to represent the box they belong to.
All boxes are registered and affiliated with Crossfit HQ in the USA with properly trained coaches and owned by passionate people.

The league is aimed at getting all Crossfitters together for an evening out, doing a workout that has been specifically designed for the strength of the particular league they are competing in. The league is mainly aimed at beginners but will also have an intermediate and expert category. There will be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and masters league.
League will be every Wednesday evening and will rotate between boxes. All first league teams will compete at the same box on the same evening and the second league teams at another Crossfit Box.
With the new league members will be able to monitor their strengths and weaknesses as they will compete against other Crossfitters at the same level. Members will compete in a team of 2 and everyone in the same division will do the same workout. The workouts will change every week.
The season will consist of 10 rounds with the top eight scores to count towards the end score. The provincial series winners in each league will receive medals/trophies.
Only members of registered Crossfit boxes on the East Rand may enter. Each province will have its own league. The top three teams of each province will compete against each other for the overall Gauteng champion, starting next year.
