Golf club elects new executive committee

The Tembisa Golf Club held its bi-annual general meeting at the Ebuhleni Golfing Facility on September 10.

Ebuhleni has now truly become the home of this age old golf club of the people of Tembisa.

This was an elective bi-annual general meeting.

Those who attended included Ierry Mosia, who is the current club champion, the past champion Nzima Tsotetsi who is the former chairperson of the club and was also the outgoing deputy chairperson, the past executive committee, the current outgoing executive committee as well as those hoping to be elected as executive members of the Tembisa Golf Club.

Mohera Boshomane retained the position of chairperson, Norman Ratshidi was voted in as deputy chairperson, Benjamin Monyanyedi was voted in as secretary and the position of treasurer went to Pat Sibiya from Umnonjaneni Section.

Captain fantastic, Themba Mazibuko, was again voted in as the captain of the Tembisa Golf Club.

Tana Mowela was voted in as the vice captain, Sam Serongwane retains his position as the development coach, leaving Kakapa Sibandze, Broadia Matlogela and Harry Mthembu as additional executive members to complete the Tembisa Golf Club’s executive committee.

The elected executive is expected to continue driving the programmes of the club as well as the transformation agenda, not forgetting the important dream of producing a super star golfer who should hail from Tembisa.

“Yes if we believe it is possible we can get it done,” said the club’s organising secretary, Mr Benjamin Monyanyedi.

In true Tembisa Golf Club tradition, festivities followed until late into the night and the next bi-AGM will be in 2018.

In the meantime, the Tembisa Golf Club is reeling from the recent defeat at the hands of Club 9. This inter-club game was hosted by Club 9 at the South Downs Country Club and was contested by Club 9, Merafong and Tembisa.

Club 9 gave everyone a run for their money and in the end it was so close yet so far for the usually super Tembisans.

The return match will be in Kempton Park and this time around they hope the Tembisa golfers will make themselves available as their absence last time out might have contributed to their painful yet so close defeat.

Tembisa has won four of the six matches played so far and has had a win in Kempton Park.
