Lion Stars hold first awards ceremony
Lion Stars would also like to urge the community for support or any donations
LION Stars Youth Development held its first awards ceremony to honour the youth in the Kempton community for their hard work throughout the 2015/2016 soccer season and in their school work.
“Despite the challenges our community is facing with drugs and substance use and abuse, we should also keep in mind and recognise our children who are making the right decision by trying their utmost to be moral and good citizens in our community, our country and in Africa tomorrow,” said Jonathan Kabasele, assistant coach.
Lion Stars medals and goodie bags from sponsor Red Alert Security were awarded to:
Best goalkeeper: Donald Muhwandavaka (u/12) and Innocent Mabena (u/17)
Best defender: Wellington Shoko (u/12) and Piet Lebese (u/17)
Best middle fielder: Thato Adia (u/12) and Junior Baloyi (u/17)

Best young player: Mawule Agbanzo (u/12) and Junior Adia (u/17)
Best female player: Quinlyn Gebregziabher (u/12)

“Lion Stars would like to thank everyone who came to the awards ceremony and all our sponsors, not forgetting the stakeholders, Red Alert Security, Daisy and Donald EduCare for a wonderful performance, Abraw Camaldine, striker for Kaizer Chiefs, Sfiso Sibanyoni and everyone who was involved throughout this season,” added Kabasele.
Lion Stars urge the community for support or any donations towards the 2016/2017 soccer season in the form soccer kit. Cash donations will also be accepted.
“We are also looking for a place to run a drop-in centre for the youth living and working on the streets. This will enable us to get them off the streets and back into schools,” said Kabasele.
