Kempton premier team aims for 10th league title

AS they seek their 10th Premier League title since 2006, the Optimus Engineering Kempton Park premier cricket team continued their winning ways on Sunday.
As part of Eastern Cricket Union’s continued development programme, the match was hosted by Kwa Thema on the newly-laid pitch there.
Kempton lost the toss and were sent in to bat. Kempton posted 277/ 6 in 46 overs, with Jurie Snyman (87 not out) and Anton Muller (72) the top scorers.
Kwa Thema were dismissed for 82 in reply, with Gavin Ralph taking 5/17.
Also looking to defend their title, Kempton Park’s promotion team were bowled out for 218 by Boksburg. Carel Botha (76), Zander Muller (50) and Arni Enslin (35 not out) were the batsmen to shine for the home team.
Boksburg were bowled out for 147, with last season’s cricketer of the year, Marcellus Olifant, taking 3/33 and Dean Visser 3/28.
Kempton’s Directors’ Team were away at Springs Old Boys and managed to post 199/9. The promising Keagan Hopkins (86) and newcomer Kyle Saxby (31) contributed with the bat.
Springs Old Boys were dismissed for 87 with Hansie van Loggenberg boasting incredible figures of 4/5 in just three overs.
The Chairman’s Team were at home in Kempton vs Daveyton, who batted first and posted 99 all out.
For Kempton, Tian Kruger (3/11), Daniel de Villiers (3/23) and Edzart Jansen van Vuuren (2/4) cleaned up. Kempton chased the total easily, reaching 102/1 with Thomas Ndimande scoring 52 and De Villiers 35 not out.
It was a clean sweep of the Sunday league games for Kempton’s Colts team at Barnard Stadium, as they took on United – who were dismissed for 100, as Kempton senior player Danny Doubell took 4/14 with his off spin.
Kempton successfully chased the total with three wickets down; captain Justin Bennett finished on 26 not out and Sean Buitendag, was 24 not out.
