Tembisa to host TomTom 10km race
The race will start and finish at the Moses Molelekwa Arts Center, next to the Makhulong Stadium.
The third edition of the Tomtom Tembisa 10km run and walk, presented by the Tembisa Athletics Club, will take place on Sunday, October 30.
The race will start and finish at the Moses Molelekwa Arts Center, next to the Makhulong Stadium. The race will start at 8am.
Race entries will be taken at the venue on Saturday, October 29, from 9am until late. Entries will also be accepted on the morning of the race.
The entry fee for the 10km is R60 for licensed athletes. Unlicensed athletes must pay an addition R20 for a temporary license.
The winners (men and women) of the 10km will take home R3 000. Race medals and goodie bags will be given to all race finishers.
Top contenders in the race include Lucky Mohale, who is the former South African 10km and half marathon champion from Tembisa and Namakoe Nkhasi, the defending champion from Lesotho.
There is also a street mile race for boys and girls who fall into the U/15 and U/19 categories.
Entries for the mile race will also be take on the day of the race. The entry fee for the mile race is R40.
Routes that will be affected are Star Street, RTJ Namane Drive, George Nyanga Drive, Andrew Mapheto Drive and Brian Mazibuko.
