Victory for Winnie United FC
A few minutes into the game, it was evident that Winnie United was the stronger team.
As part of backing the Matsheko Early Learning Centre’s fun run that took place on October 9, the Winnie United FC U/15 team took on View Tigers FC in an entertaining game played at the Olifanstfontein Sports Ground.
The friendly game was part of keeping their players fit.
From the first whistle of the game, both teams took time to build momentum.
A few minutes into the game, it was evident that Winnie United was the stronger team.
Winnie United’s reliable striker Nhlanhla “Neymar” Maholobela registered a goal in the dying minutes of the first half.
At the end of the first half, the score was 1-0.
Going into the second half, View Tigers gained more momentum and pressed hard for an equaliser.
View Tigers managed to equalise through their striker Masa Kgare, after he received a well-timed pass from his defender.
Both teams fought hard for victory, however the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The game had to be decided on penalties, which Winnie United won 5-4.
Winnie United FC’s coach, Tshidiso Khara, said he was happy at how the game played.
“It was a friendly game but tough. It was even more captivating to watch how the boys were eager to win. I am happy they played well and did not forget the purpose of keeping fit,” said Mr Khara.
