Rain plays havoc with junior cricket games

However, some of the Kempton junior teams did manage to complete their fixtures

MANY of Kempton Park Junior Cricket Club’s matches were called off due to rain and water-logged pitches this weekend.

However, some games were played.

U/8 B1 beat KwaThema by eight runs. Scoring 88 runs, they managed to restrict the hosts to 80 runs in their allotted overs.

Cole Stanbury top scored with 23 and took 3/4. Matthew Matthyser got 2/13 in their defence of their total. Stanbury was awarded man of the match.

U/10 super league 1’s game was rained out, however, Jacques Naude managed 51* and Connor White 28 before the match was abandoned.

U/10 A1 lost to United Cricket Club by two wickets. Kempton batted first, setting a target of 122/8 with Brent Kotze 26* and Armandt Botha 27.

In return, Kempton had United on the ropes at 27/6 after eight with Dylan Botha 1/13, Chadyn van Zyl 1/15 and Armandt Botha 1/25.

United fought back for the win with two wickets in hand. Man of the match was Garth van Deventer.

U/10 B2 lost to Actonville by five wickets. Lereko Tshosane was awarded man of the match for figures of 2/2.

U/12 super league lost to Bedfordview by seven wickets with Darien Claassen top scoring with 34*.

U/14 super league beat Kwa thema by 155 runs. Kempton batted first and amassed 230/3 with Devon Joyce scoring 101 and Liam le Grange 98.

KwaThema were then bowled out for 75 with Connor Grobler 3/5 and Dayan Govender 2/ 5.
