Mixed fortunes for Kempton’s junior teams

Only three teams managed to win their matches

KEMPTON Park Junior Cricket Club’s teams had mixed fortunes in the past week’s results.

U/8A lost to Benoni by 25 runs. Benoni scored 112/9 with Casey Roux taking 3/6 and Ethan Muller 2/0. Kempton made 87/7 with Troy Gordon getting 16* and Jean de Villiers 13*. Man of the match was Jack Cannon.

U/8 B1 lost to Avion by 76 runs. Batting first, Avion made 142 runs with Cole Stanbury taking 3/3.

In their chase, Kempton only managed 66 runs with Cole Stanbury top scoring on 37*. Ethan Kree was awarded man of the match.

U/10 super league 1 lost to United. After a collapse of 17/4 in four overs, even a 66-run partnership between Joshua Shanker (60*, man of match) and Marko van Voorst (15) was not enough to force the win.

U/10 B2 lost to Vosloorus by seven wickets. Man of the match was Louis Mouton for his contribution with the bat and ball.

U/10 A1 lost to Benoni Northerns by 25 runs. Benoni posted 112/4 with James Howard 1/9, Ruben Hanekom 1/4 and Mckenzie Ross 1/6.

In reply, Kempton made 87 runs with Mathew Caldwell 13*, Ruben Hanekom 16 and Malcolm Janse van Rensburg 13. Man of the match award went to Ruben Hanekom.

U/10 B1 lost to Avion by 45 runs. Tristan Smit was awarded man of the match for 15*. Kyle Naicker took 1/20.

U/12 super league beat Boksburg by 59 runs. Kempton scored 161/4 with Wiaan van der Berg 64 and Unathi Felane 43*.

The hosts restricted Boksburg to 102 due to exemplary bowling from Ronan Maher who took 4/9 and the man of the match award for his efforts.

U/12 B1 beat Tembisa by four wickets. Man of the match went to Johan Kruger who scored 41*. Realeboga Chidi took 5/19 in five overs.

U14A beat Tembisa by 98 runs. Batting first, Kempton made 165/5 with Daniel Stoltz 51* and Darian Naidoo 52. Ultimately it was man of the match, Michael Olivier’s, 4/20, whose spin demolished the middle order to set up the win.
