Two senior Avion cricket sides win

Some of the junior games could not take place

TWO of Avion Park Cricket Club’s senior teams won their matches during the past week.

The chairman’s team beat Tsakane by 156 runs at Rhodesfield Technical High School.

Avion batted first and scored 285/9 in 40 overs. Tsakane were all out for 129 in 20.4 overs.

Rian Swanepoel scored 110 and Eugene de Vasconellos took 5/22.

The promotion side beat Scaw Metals at the Scaw Main Oval in Germiston, by seven wickets.

Avion bowled out Scaw for 85. Leo Jacobs took five wickets and Johan Ferreira scored 38*.

The Avion Colts, playing Kempton Park at Hoƫrskool Jeugland, lost by 18 runs.

Kempton batted first and scored 140 all out, after which Avion replied with 122 all out. Michael Kruger took 4/16, Zander Cronje 3/22 and Kevin van Zyl hit 56.

Only a few of the junior teams were in action due to wet pitches:

U/8B-1 beat United by 127 runs. Avion 169/1 declared. United 42 all out.

Rico Nel 51*, Jaydon Vermeulen 25* and 1/5 , Werno Pretorius 9* and 4/4, Driaan Swanepoel 2/1 PG le Roux 2/5.

U/10A-2 beat United by 63 runs. Avion 199/10. United 136/10.

Tristan Joubert 56, Gustav Schaffner 28, Estian Rex 23, Marnus Otto 20* and 3/7, Jayden Joubert 3/3 and Lwandle Mkwanazi 2/19.

U/14 Super League beat Alberton by 4 wickets. Alberton 114/10. Avion 117/6. Daniel-Luke van Zyl 3/20, Marko Kruger 2/11, Zander Smit 64.
