Meyer shows the way at bowling prize-giving
Next year’s championship standards are going to be very high
HANNETJIE Meyer walked away with several trophies at Atlas Bowling Club’s recent prize-giving.
Not only was she the player of the year, but she also walked off with the Victrix Ludorum award.
As a novice starting in 2015, she won the novice’s singles and went on to play through to the semi-finals of the district novices singles.
Meyer was also part of the team taking medals in the fours and trips.
Owen James took the Victor Ludorum, men’s singles and handicap singles, while Tilly Taylor took the women’s senior singles and singles medals.
Colin Jones was the men’s senior’s singles champion.
The men’s novices was won by Josh Britz, a youth player at Atlas who played great bowls throughout the year and also challenged the winners for the open and handicapped singles.
With the ever increasing membership and great strides the club is making, and with what was seen this year, next year’s championship standards are going to be very high.
The club has been very busy over the past few weeks. It held a fund-raiser for the National Association of Blind Bowlers’ Ekurhuleni region, who plays out of the Atlas club. It was well supported by 16 teams.
