Kempton rower comes 2nd in final river race

Malcolm Stothard who lives in Kempton Park and runs a boat repair and manufacturing business in Edenvale, thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of the tough 33km River race and the opportunity to improve his fitness, stamina and seeding for the upcoming FNB Dusi race in February

FLORIDA Lake Canoe Club hosted the Tops Spar Dusi seeding race on Sunday December 11 on the Gauteng Klip River from Daleside to Meyerton, with good forgiving water levels after recent rain storms.

This was the final river race for 2016.

Malcolm Stothard who lives in Kempton Park and runs a boat repair and manufacturing business in Edenvale, thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of the tough 33km River race and the opportunity to improve his fitness, stamina and seeding for the upcoming FNB Dusi race in February.

Stothard finished the race in 2 hours 41 minutes as Second Master in his age category.

The river race was tough, in accordance with requirements for qualifying for the FNB Dusi, and included a couple of 2km runs carrying the boat, to add to the requisite criteria of the world’s most infamous endurance canoe race.
