Canoe polo to be hosted in Benoni
The provincial trials will take place in February for the 2017 SA Canoe Polo Championships in March

CANOE Polo is a sport that is growing in popularity, especially on the East Rand.
The Scouts as well as numerous primary school children are enjoying the training sessions at Homestead Dam in Benoni, the home of Ekurhuleni Kayak Racing Club.
The club will host a 4 x 4 canoe polo tournament on January 28.
The sport is like rugby, only on the water – chase, tackle, defend and score goals in a goal net, using paddles to defend and tackle.
It is quite rough. Players have to wear full face helmets and need to know how to do a flip-turn if they fall upside down in the water.
The provincial trials will take place in February for the 2017 SA Canoe Polo Championships in March.
