Polo players prepare for the SAs in Benoni
East Rand Kayak is looking forward to hosting the national championships in March
EAST Rand Kayak hosted its first ever canoe polo tournament at Homestead Dam on January 28.
The tournament was aimed at young development players.
There were players from the East and West Rand, Emmarentia Dam, Eastleigh Sea Scouts, as well as the local development paddlers from East Rand Kayak.
Over 25 players, with a variety of skill levels, attended, playing in four teams. The teams competed in a round robin event.
The final was a closely matched game where the winners came out on top by winning 7-5.
The teams were mixed with individuals from various areas, with weaker and stronger players to give all a fair chance.
East Rand Kayak is looking forward to hosting the national championships in March as players and teams practise and prepare for the Gauteng trials, hoping to be included in the team.
