Tembisa sports academy receives sponsorship
Lesibe academy is grateful for sponsorship.
Lesibe Academy is happy to be a fully equipped football club thanks to a sponsor who heeded their plea.
The academy’s director and head coach Mr Petros “Shoes” Sehlapelo thanked the Young President Organisation (YPO) for their sponsorship, which is worth R22 000.
“We were sponsored with soccer kit and training equipment. That included 40 soccer boots, 50 shin guards, four water-bottle carriers, a first aid kit and 10 goalkeeper gloves. For training equipment we got slalom poles, 10 training parachutes, 20 soccer balls and we were also given 72 golf T-shirts as part of the kit,” said Sehlapelo.
“We want to thank the sponsor. Currently we are playing in a league for U/11 in Alexandra and are struggling with transport to the games. We would appreciate help with food and transport,” he said.
He said the academy started in 2014 with 52 players but today they have 74 children and four divisions from U/10 to U/17.
“Our aim is to take these boys off the streets and create professional football players out of them,” said Sehlapelo.
Currently, he added, they have scouts who come to spot talent at their games and they hope to grow the academy, obtain a property for the organisation and turn it into a school of excellence.
